Cayman Islands Doctor Jobs

Types of Doctor Jobs Available in the Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands offers medical career opportunities across public and private healthcare, from primary care to specialised surgery, with diverse roles for doctors in both sectors.

General Practitioners (GPs)

In Cayman, GPs provide essential primary care for local and expat populations. Most roles are office or private clinic based, apart from HSA doctors at Anthony S. Eden Hospital.

Physicians

Physicians cover areas such as internal medicine, paediatrics and dermatology. Like GPs, most practise in office-based, private clinics in Cayman, with hospital-based roles largely at the HSA.

Surgeons

Surgeons work across specialties including general, orthopaedic, and neurology. Most practise in private clinics with admitting rights to the two private hospitals in Grand Cayman or HSA.

Consultants

Consultant roles in Cayman are different to say the UK. Apart from in HSA, they usually do not involve supervising junior staff, unlike in the NHS. Consultant level is recognised as three years post-CCT or equivalent here.

Healthcare Facilities in the Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands has a well-established healthcare system, anchored by public and private hospitals and supported by private clinics, creating strong demand for doctor jobs in the Cayman Islands.

Public Healthcare Facilities

There is the main public hospital offer a full range of care, Anthony S. Eden Hospital, a part of the Health Services Authority (HSA) in George Town, a statutory authority functioning under the Ministry of Health, Environment & Sustainability. There are also several district clinics across the islands.

Private Healthcare Facilities

Private hospitals include Doctors Hospital and Health City Cayman Islands, offering multispecialty and complex care. Most private clinics are multispecialty, with some focused on physiotherapy, rehabilitation, or mental health. Private doctors – GPs, physicians, surgeons, and consultants, are usually office-based with hospital admitting rights where needed, while only hospital-employed doctors work on-site full-time.
