Description

We are seeking caring and motivated Healthcare Assistants to join our growing multidisciplinary team at Optimal Healthcare in Grand Cayman.

This is an opportunity to be part of a healthcare service that is patient centred, integrated, and innovation driven, and where every team member plays an important role in delivering outstanding care. Healthcare Assistants at Optimal are valued contributors to the clinical team, providing vital support in patient care, preparation, and continuity.

You will work within a purpose-designed, state-of-the-art 8,000 sq ft clinic alongside physicians, nurses, and allied professionals, providing care to patients locally, across the wider region, and internationally.

Those with phlebotomy experience or certification are especially welcome, and we also welcome applicants who have completed an apprenticeship or structured healthcare training programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support nurses and physicians in providing safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Prepare consultation and procedure rooms, ensuring a clean, organised, and patient-ready environment.
  • Assist with basic clinical tasks such as patient observations, sample collection, and record entry.
  • Perform or support phlebotomy and specimen handling, where trained and authorised.
  • Welcome patients and assist with comfort, reassurance, and clear communication.
  • Maintain stock levels and ensure efficient use of clinical supplies.
  • Uphold infection prevention and control standards.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
  • Demonstrate compassion, reliability, and teamwork in every aspect of your role.

What Makes Optimal Special

  • A patient first ethos where every role contributes directly to exceptional care.
  • A collaborative environment in which Healthcare Assistants are recognised for the essential part they play in the patient journey.
  • An innovation forward culture, using modern systems and technology that make providing care easier and more effective.
  • A values driven organisation, guided by Health, Wellbeing, Integrity, Compassion, Passion, and Humility.
  • A strong belief in the principle of family, meaning how we look after each other is just as important as how we look after those we care for.
  • A deep commitment to the Cayman Islands, all of its people, and its health system, including its sustainability and financial stewardship.
  • An employer of choice, offering excellent terms, supportive leadership, and opportunities to grow within a professional, respected team.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a Healthcare Assistant apprenticeship or structured healthcare training programme.
  • Experience in outpatient or primary care settings is essential.
  • Phlebotomy experience or certification is especially welcomed.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Reliable, organised, and compassionate, with a genuine commitment to patient care.
  • Basic IT skills and confidence using electronic records.

Position Terms and Conditions

  • Competitive salary up to KYD $3,750 per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • 50% contributory and 50% non-contributory Health Insurance (mandatory by law).
  • 50% contributory and 50% non-contributory Pension, based on capped maximum (mandatory by law).
  • Five days paid study leave (excluding costs).
  • Twelve public holidays per annum.
  • Vacation leave to be discussed personally.

Join us at Optimal Healthcare and become part of a team that values compassion, professionalism, and family. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play an important role in helping us provide exceptional care and make a genuine difference every day.
